When it comes to advancing Reconciliation in real and practical ways, housing is a great place to start. We have worked with Indigenous communities and organizations on addressing housing needs for over 20 years, and we’ve developed a successful process to help meet your community’s housing needs.

Housing EngagementWe start by facilitating discussions with leadership, staff and citizens. These conversations will help us better understand your community’s unique housing needs and issues. Once we see the lay of the land, we can begin discussing potential housing solutions that will be developed by your community.
The ‘Housing Engagement’ process is the foundation for all the work that lies ahead. |
Housing DataIn order to make your case for more funding, Governments demand that you demonstrate the need through evidence and data.
We will work with your community and train individuals to complete housing assessments and tenant surveys. These assessments will help us measure rates of overcrowding, health and safety needs and the requirement for major repairs/replacements. Data is a powerful tool and helps with engaging the community to developing their own solutions. With the data obtained through these assessments and surveys, you will have the evidence required to make the case for the housing and infrastructure funding your community requires. Further, this data will assist you in developing short- and long-term construction and maintenance plans. |
Housing Administrative Efficiencies and Data ManagementWe realize that data sovereignty and security are important components of any housing department. We have developed a cloud-centred housing database and a series of web-based housing management tools. The database and tools were developed off the Google Drive platform; meaning they’re:
In addition to getting your housing management system in place, we will complete initial data entry to ensure you have an updated system to work from and save your staff/team from data-entry work. Having a proper data system in place to track your operations, repairs and maintenance, wait lists, renovations, service contracts, tenant files, etc., will improve efficiencies, streamline work and give you the ability to quickly compile reports as required. |
ImplementationWhether you’re looking to implement a new housing management system, policy or program; having a plan in place is fundamental. Clear Direction can assist your community in developing an implementation strategy and timeline to ensure things go smoothly. We can also help in developing evaluations and potential adjustments, if required.
